Bridgeport, CT Realty

Bridgeport CT Realty is attracting buyers from near and far and this is not surprising.  The city is located in Fairfield County and is a multicultural city in Southwest Connecticut on the Long Island Sound at the mouth of the Pequannock River. It is just over an hour from New York City by train, and is a delightful 75-minute ride on the Port Jefferson-Bridgeport Ferry to scenic Long Island.  Many real estate investors are attracted to the city because of its large inventory or multi-unit homes.

Bridgeport is known as the "Park City" because of it has over 1,300 acres of beautifully designed public parks, including the beloved local gem, Beardsley Park, home of Beardsley Zoo. Seaside Park, located on the Long Island Sound, and Beardsley Park were both created by Frederick Law Olmsted, the landscape architect who designed Manhattan’s famous Central Park.  For golf lovers, there is the 36-holes Fairchild Wheeler public golf facility.

The City of Bridgeport, population 144,000 and covering 16.0 square miles, is the home of The Ballpark and The Arena, both at Harbor Yard.  The Bridgeport Bluefish of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball play their home games at The Ballpark while the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League play their home games at The Arena.  The Arena is also the home court for both the men’s and women’s basketball teams of nearby Fairfield University. Since its opening in 2001, dozens of other theatrical and sports attractions have been featured at the Arena, including the Boston Pops Orchestra, the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, Cher, Elton John, the Harlem Globe Trotters, and Disney on Ice, just to name a few..  Since 2004, the NCAA has three times held either the first or second round of the NCAA Women’s Division I Basketball Championship at The Arena.
